Even with the horrendous weather in Tokyo on Friday night, Japan’s dedicated sofubi collectors were out in force for the opening of Rampage Studios‘ much-hyped “Clash of the Titans”, eagerly waiting outside in the rain for their chance at bagging one of the many one-offs and micro-runs that were up for grabs. Going on to sell out within a matter of minutes, you’ll be glad to hear that Rampage’s Jon Malmstedt had the foresight to hold back a number of items for an special online drop next week. Whilst we can’t confirm what exactly will be featuring, we’re guessing that at least a couple of the pictured  Dark Side Hunter-X, Hag-X and “Badly Bruised” Cadaver Twin will be up for grabs alongside a few surprises. Look out for the drop in the Rampage store this coming Tuesday, June 30th at 10am Japan time…

MAN-E-NEWS// The first painted “Hag-X” and “Dark Side Hunter-X” sofubi from Rampage Toys x Mutant Vinyl Hardcore x Skull Head Butt revealed…

Originally teased here last week in blank flesh vinyl, the latest round of Skull Head Butt “X” figures from Rampage Toys and Mutant Vinyl Hardcore have finally been revealed in their debut painted colorways! Featuring a Skeletor-inspired witch going by the name of Hag from Rampage and a sinister six-eyed alien called Dark Side Hunter from MVH, the pair have been produced in the afforementioned flesh toned vinyl with paint apps from Rampage’s Jon Malmstedt; Hag-X coming with red, white and gold sprays over a black rub, and Dark Side Hunter-X, a mix of metallic teal, black, silver, pink and yellow sprays with silver detailing. Going on sale at the “Clash of the Titans” show at Rampage Studios this Friday, June 26th for an undisclosed sum, we’re told that a limited number will be held back for an online release soon after- more details on that later on this week!

Continuing his ongoing relationship with Skull Head Butt, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has teamed up with Mutant Vinyl Hardcore to produce 2 all-new head sculpts for their ever popular “X” series! Featuring a Skeletor-inspired witch going by the name of Hag from Rampage and a sinister six-eyed alien called Dark Side Hunter from MVH, the pair have been produced by Jon in a flesh toned vinyl for their first painted release at Rampage Studios’ “Clash of the Titans” show next Friday, June 26th… But that’s not all! Created with the intention of multi-platform releases, both heads will also see releases with MVH’s standard DX body, whilst a cap has been made for the Hag for a slew of “Hag Ball” releases over the coming months… Here’s hoping we see some sort online appearance soon!

Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys is proud to announce arguably the biggest show in sofubi this year… Rampage Studios’ one-day-only “Clash of the Titans” mega event! Featuring works from some of the biggest artists in contemporary kaiju and sofubi, including Paul Kaiju, MVH, Splurrt, Leo Sofvi Bouya, Izumonster, GEEK! and of course Jon himself, the event will also play host to a very special “secret” Oozeball release from none other than Cosmo Knight Alpha/Longneck! Whilst details on the release are still close guarded at present, it would appear that The Disarticulators’ “squeaky toy” is set to receive a very limited painted run courtesy of CKA’s Yoda-san. Opening it’s doors at the Tokyo-based location next Friday, June 26th at 7pm, expect teasers for the show – plus details on that Oozeball release – over the next few days…

Originally debuting at Superfestival 68 back in April, the second wave of “Galactic Teleportation” Oozeballs from The Disarticulators and Rampage Toys will finally be up for grabs later this week! Produced in a squishy clear matt soft vinyl, the Tru:Tek-designed, Zectron-sculpted “squeaky toy” has been treated to a mesmerising mix of pink and gold sprays with neon green detailing courtesy of Rampage, coming complete with a motion-activated LED unit that’s been mounted in the base. Limited to an edition of 9 pieces, the “Galactic Teleportation” Oozeballs: Wave 2 will be touching down in the Man-E-Toys store this Friday, June 12th at 9pm London time, priced at just $65 each plus shipping…

Bob Conge aka Plaseebo is proud to present the fifth one-off custom based on his GNAW-X figure! Taken from Rampage Toys x Skull Head Butt’s huge collaboration from last year, the 8″ beast features Plaseebo‘s Gnaw head sculpt on top of SHB’s standard “X” body. Jointly produced by Rampage Toys’ Jon Malmtsedt and Marmit, the figure has been cast in what appears to be a pink soft vinyl this time around, coming with layers of metallic sprays, glass inset eyes and an internal motion activated color changing LED unit courtesy of Plaseebo. Signed and dated by the artist, Gnaw-X #5 can currently be found in the Plaseebo web store right here for $350 plus shipping…

MAN-E-NEWS// Mutant Vinyl Hardcore’s “Troll” wax prototype revealed…

Rich Montanari Jr over at Mutant Vinyl Hardcore is proud to reveal that his long awaited “Troll” sofubi has finally made it over to Japan for wax prototyping ahead of vinyl production! Considerably larger than Rich’s standard DX figure at around 11″ tall (comparison below), the figure is said to be the latest in MVH’s illustrious line-up of toys to receive multiple head designs in the future. With the project already light years ahead of schedule, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the hideous looking creature will be making his first official appearance before the summer is out. Originally teased here just a couple of days ago, the Rotten DX from Rampage Toys x Mutant Vinyl Hardcore has just been revealed in-full! Featuring the standard MVH “DX” body alongside the Triclops designed, Zectron sculpted Rotten Tomato head, the gruesome figure has been produced in a GID soft vinyl for its debut outing, coming with a plethora of neon sprays and gold accents from Rampage’s Jon Malmstedt. Going on sale in the Rampage online store via limited preorder next Monday, June 8th at 10am Japan time, Rotten DX has been priced at just $150 plus shipping…

Teased here back in April, the “Red King” and “Pigumon” Ultra Kaiju figures from Rampage Toys will finally be unleashed online next week! Taken from classic tokusatsu show Ultaman, the official, Tsuburaya-licensed figures have been sculpted by Jon in-scale with the previous 2 releases at around 6″-7″ tall each, with Piguman featuring an ingenious articulated balloon, whilst Red King comes complete with an adorable micro Pigumon omake. Produced by Marmit in a dark red soft vinyl with factory-style sprays from Jon, the pair will be debuting simultaneously in both the Marmit and Rampage online stores next Tuesday, June 9th, coming in at just $45 each plus shipping…

But that’s not all! Having had continued success with the Rotten-X mega collab, Jon has revealed that he’ll be teaming up with Mutant Vinyl Hardcore for a limited run of Rotten DX figures! Featuring the standard MVH “DX” body alongside the Triclops designed, Zectron sculpted Rotten Tomato head, the figure has been produced in a GID soft vinyl with neon sprays and gold accents from Jon. Little is known about the release at present, but you can be sure that as soon as we find out, you guys will be the first in the know…


MAN-E-NEWS// The Medicom Toy exclusive “Aboras” Ultra Kaiju from Rampage Toys…

Ahead of both Pigumon and the Red king making their “Rampage Ultra Kaiju” debut over the next few weeks, the second figure in the official, Tsuburaya-licensed series – Aboras – is set to receive his second outing this month as a Medicom Toy exclusive! Designed/sculpted by Rampage Toy‘s Jon Malmstedt and produced by Marmit, the 5″ tall figure has been cast in a deep purple, complete with metallic red, yellow and blue sprays. Going on sale through the Medicom Toy store on Sunday, June 7th for just 4,000yen ($33) plus shipping, due to licensing restrictions we’re guessing that international orders will have to be placed through a forwarding service, M-World. MAN-E-NEWS// The Galaxy People at Design Fiesta 41…

Following our look at the “Pocket Guardian” minis earlier in the week, we can now reveal the whole slew of other Galaxy People figures artist Brian Bunting will be bringing along to Design Fiesta 41 this weekend! Aside from the adorable little Guardians, attendees of the event can expect new painted runs and one-off customs of all 3 new “villain” characters – Drexyl, a teleporting cat assassin, Skreel, the galaxy bat, and Tragg, a ruthless dinosaur-headed mercenary (top) – the trio will be joined by new Sensorbats and Drexyls as well as a limited batch of GP x Rampage micro tank mash-ups. Available from DF booth C-250 this Saturday, May 16th – Sunday, May 17th, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed any leftovers make it to the Galaxty People online store soon after…

Hot on the heels of the “Glow Version” Kesagake posted earlier in the week, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has just revealed another run of figures he’ll have up for grabs at Design Fiesta 41 this weekend, the Mixed-Part Gnaw-X’s! Taken from Rampage Toys x Skull Head Butt’s recent monster collaboration, the 8.5″ beast features Plaseebo‘s Gnaw head sculpt on top of SHB’s standard “X” body. Jointly produced by Rampage Toys’ Jon Malmtsedt and Marmit, the figure has been cast in a selection of bright green, dark green, red, milky, orange and GID vinyl, coming complete with a detail-hugging black wash and randomly assorted dolls eye inserts. Limited to an edition of just 4 pieces, the Mixed-Part Gnaw-X’s will be up for grabs at Rampage’s DF booth (C-356) starting Saturday, May 16th (price TBC)… Look out for more Design Fiesta reveals from Rampage tomorrow!

Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys will be descending upon Design Fiesta 41 this weekend with a whole load of original sofubi, custom one-offs and painted runs, the first to be revealed coming in the form of this gorgeous “Glow Verson” Kaibutsuya Kesagake sofubi!  Standing at a lofty 10.5″ tall and coming with 4 points of articulation, the menacing grizzly has been produced in a glow in the dark vinyl soft vinyl for the release, coming complete with a number of icy blue, metallic yellow and neon pink sprays. Up for grabs at the Rampage DF booth (C-356) starting Saturday, May 16th (price TBC), an extremely limited supply are due to be held back for an online lottery release at some point next week. MAN-E-NEWS// The Siryosei Expo exclusive “Snack Pack” sofubi minis from Rampage Toys…

Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has revealed that he’ll be exhibiting at Mandarake‘s Siryosei Expo in Nakano, Tokyo, this Sunday, bringing along a whole host of one-off customs and painted runs… including this rather awesome “Snack Pack” sofubi mini set! Featuring both male and female Hokkaido settler omake from Rampage’s highly sought after Kesagake sofubi, the 3″ tall, 2-part figures have been produced in a flesh-toned vinyl this time around, featuring a mix of black, brown, pink, white and blue hand painted detailing. Packed in an authentic “snack foods” box with a header designed by Walter P, each set comes with an all-new holographic sticker created by Bikkuriman enthusiast Kanayama-san. Edition size is still to be confirmed at present, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that at least a couple sets remain for online sales early next week…

With the success of both Jamira and Aboras tucked firmly under his belt, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has been given the green light on 2 more figures for his ongoing Ultra Kaiju series, taking on the mighty Red King and Pigumon! Taken from classic tokusatsu show Ultaman, the official, Tsuburaya-licensed figures have been sculpted by Jon in-scale with the previous 2 releases at around 5″ tall each; with Red King featuring the original UK Aboras body topped with an all-new head sculpt, whilst Pigumon – complete with his infamous balloon! – having been created from the ground up. Due to make their debut via open preorder at Design Fiesta in just a couple of weeks time, expect a full, painted reveal of the pair very soon…

With ToyCon UK ’15 open it’s doors tomorrow morning (4/25), we thought it was about time to give you guys a little recap on the various Oozeball sofubi our editor-in-chief Tru:Tek will have up for grabs at the event! Guesting at the Toy Shack booth between 11.30am – 1pm, here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect from the Disarticulator

Rampage Toys one-off customs// The Disarticulators have joined forces with Rampage Toys‘ Jon Malmstedt for a trifecta of one-off customs! Produced in a non-squishy flesh-toned soft vinyl this time around – sadly sans squeaker – the Tru:Tek-designed, Zectron-sculpted balls have been treated to layers of unique sprays, rubs and brushwork. Rather aptly titled (from left to right) “Red Planet”, “Funfetti Ooze” and “Golden Sludge”, the trio will set you back just £65 a piece.

ToyCon UK exclusive “Predatooze”// Produced in a squishy clear matt soft vinyl this time around, the vintage-style “squeaky toy” has been filled to the brim with custom tie-dyed pom poms to resemble the infamous thermal imaging effect from cult 80’s flick, Predator. Limited to an edition of just 8 – including a “Deep Heat” chase – alongside just 2 variants in a “Stealth” colorway (without pom poms), the “Predatooze” Oozeballs come packed with a deluxe double sided header for £35 and £32.50 respectively.

Non-squishy “GID” and “Flesh”// Joining both Predatooze and the Rampage one-offs, Tru:Tek will also be bringing along a super-limited batch of Oozeballs in both GID and flesh-toned non-squishy vinyl. Capped at just 2 of each and never to be repeated in this format (i.e. unpainted!), these come packed with custom header cards for just £30 each.

Any leftovers will be making their way to the Man-E-Toys store on Sunday, April 26th at 9pm London time!

Originally teased in prototype form way back in February (check it here), the Tofu sofubi micro from Devil Robots and Rampage Toys has finally seen the light of day in vinyl- well, half of it anyway! Featuring the classic Tofu cube head, the first round of figures come complete with Rampage’s Gachapon Goblin Tank as a base whilst the original body awaits completion. Due to be making an appearance at Devil Robots’ Superfestival 68 booth this Sunday, April 26th, pricing and edition size is still to be confirmed… Here’s hoping for a general release in the Rampage store soon!

Yep, yet more from Rampage Toys‘ Jon Malmstedt today, as we reveal yet another painted micro-run he’ll have up for grabs at Superfestival 68 later this week… the “Aqua Green” Nerdone Gorilla Tanks! Using the remaining 3 figures from the previous Wonderfestival release, the Nerdone tanks have been produced in a white soft vinyl, this time around coming with a tight mix of metallic aqua, silver and red sprays over a black base. Packed with matching striped Gorilla “omake” – if you can call it that, the thing stands at over 10″ tall! – the Gorilla Tanks will be touching down at the Rampage Toys/Galaxy People Superfestival booth (a-13) this Sunday, April 26th for around 15,000yen ($126)…

Produced in a non-squishy flesh-toned vinyl this time around – sadly sans squeaker – the Tru:Tek-designed, Zectron-sculpted balls have been treated to layers of sprays and brushwork, with the rather aptly titled (from left to right) “Red Planet”, “Funfetti Ooze” and “Golden Sludge” all having their own very distinct look and feel. As if the “Kyorochan” Diatryma custom and Fake Spectreman prototypes revealed just yesterday weren’t enough, the guys over at Awesome Toy have revealed yet another piece that’ll be winging it’s way over to ToyCon UK this week, the hilarious “Naked Baron” one-off! Originally painted for fun way back last year before FAKE BARON’s official release, the flesh-toned prototype has since received further detailing – albeit in the form of drawn on body hair, butt cheeks and nipples! – in preparation for it’s release at the Kaijumonster booth (#29) this Saturday, April 25th. Coming bagged with an exclusive custom header (shown above), pricing for this rather unique piece is still to be confirmed…

But wait, there’s more! Not content with showing at just one con this weekend, Awesome Toy will also be unleashing a new painted run of FAKE BARON sofubi at Superfestival 68 too! Inspired by the classic Scopedog colors, the 9″ figure has been produced in an authentic army green vinyl with light blue, mint and red sprays. Going on sale at the Rampage Toys/Galaxy People booth (a-13), the “Armored” Barons have been priced at just 10,000yen ($84) each…
