MAN-E-NEWS// The “Monster School” sofubi finger puppets from Shikamark…

Sofubi producer Shikamark are proud to introduce their latest sofubi, the “Monster School” finger puppets! Inspired by the silverscreen’s classic monsters as well as Mattel and Bandai’s cult Ma-Ba Zombie toys, the series features a total of 4 figures sculpted with a school-infused theme -“Franken teacher”, plus pupils “Cyclops-kun”, “Medusa-chan” and “Salamander-kun” – each standing at around 3″ tall and featuring a simple uncapped, open base. Making their debut (and quickly selling out!) at Wonderfestival Summer ’15 last weekend, the unpainted black colorway you see above came in at just 2,000yen ($16)… Here’s hoping an overseas release is in the pipeline soon!


MAN-E-NEWS// The “Fancy Fluffy” keshi from Chihiro Takigawa…

Japanese artist Chihiro Takigawa is proud to reveal that his “Fancy Fluffy” keshi series will be making its debut at Wonderfestival Summer ’15 this weekend! Featuring 3 sheep characters alongside what appears to be a shepherd, the wonderfully stylised figures come in at around 1″-2″ each. Produced in a mix of blue, green and orange soft resin for this first release, the Fancy Fluffy keshi will be up for grabs at Takigawa’s booth this Sunday, July 26th, each coming packed with matching Bikkuriman-style stickers for an undisclosed sum… Here’s hoping the little guys get some sort of overseas release soon!

MAN-E-UPDATE// The “Mad Wrestlers” keshi from Monster Island x Disart ToyLabs…

Originally announced right here last month, we can now reveal the Mad Wrestlers from Monster Island x Disart ToyLabs in their final packaging! Heavily inspired by the Weirdballs mini figure off-shoots, these ingenious little guys feature recast and reduced Madball heads that have been kit-bashed with a number of different M.U.S.C.L.E bodies. Featuring a total of 6 different designs from Monster Island’s Paul Bass – 3 more than the original release – the group have all been recast by our very own Tru:Tek in a flexible, UV resistant rubber. Coming packed on authentic, hand cut “Madballs Vs. M.U.S.C.L.E” cardbacks featuring art from AshMadeThis, these limited edition blistered versions will be up for grabs through Monster Island and ourselves soon. Look out for the full lowdown over the next couple of weeks!

Having seen a few limited releases since their debut back in February, Jungle‘s “Demon Castle of Gle-Jun” sofubi minis are set to return this weekend as a Wonderfestival Summer ’15 exclusive! Featuring a total of 6 different figures from the Neclos Fortress-inspired series – including designs from Jungle regulars Uky Daydreamer and Skulltula – the release has been split up into 2 different sets, both coming beautifully hand sprayed in a selection of muted, earthy tones. Going on sale at Jungle’s WF booth this coming Sunday, July 26th for around 5,000yen ($40) a set, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the little guys will finally see their online debut soon…

Having had huge success with their “Genocide” keshi at the beginning of the year, FTWR Toy are proud to announce that they’ve secured yet another officially licensed figure from the world of Ninja Slayer, taking on the cult sci-fi novels’ unnamed lead protagonist! Closely based on the works of alias’s Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morez, the over-sized keshi has been accurately realised by the sculptor of legendary mini series Neclos Fortress, standing at around 2.5″ tall and coming cast in a selection of classic keshi colors. Packed-in with arch nemesis “Genocide”, the Ninja Slayer keshi will be up for grabs at FTWR’s Wonderfestival Summer ’15 booth alongside the previously revealed Zombie Army for just 5,000yen ($40) a set…

Teased here at the end of last month, we can now finally reveal the latest Zombie Army keshi from FTWR Toy in-full! Completely different from our original predictions, the incredible figure actually features a clever two-headed design – named “MukkiMuki” and “Bakkibaki” respectively – coming complete with a huge chest hole that houses a gas canister, plus a fully detachable machete. Once again realised by the sculptor of legendary mini figure series Neclos Fortress, the 2.5″ tall piece has been produced in keshi-style soft rubber, coming in an initial selection of flesh tone, pink, green and the pictured light blue. Packed with an all-new Bikkuriman-style sticker, the latest Zombie Army keshi will be making it’s debut at Wonderfestival Summer ’15 this coming Sunday, priced at just 3,000yen ($24) each… Here’s hoping we see an overseas sale soon!


MAN-E-NEWS// Louie Chavez’ Nuke Beach “Gross Out Mini Mutations” announced…

Wasting no time since the release of his first Nuke Beach mini figures “Fukushiman” and “Chum Bucket” last week, Louie Chavez aka Slimetime is proud to announce the arrival of an all-new sub series, the Gross Out Mini Mutations! Standing at around a third of the size of the standard figures at 1″ tall, these little guys will – starting with the super-gross angler fish you see above – offer a more affordable, pocket sized alternative to the main series, hopefully coming in the same hand painted finish complete with a number of add ons and accessories. Look out for more details on the little guys soon, and be sure to head over to the Nuke Beach store and adopt one of the first wave of figures if you haven’t already!

The guys behind new UK-based outfit DRWG have just unveiled a work in progress image of the first figure in their debut line of keshi, the Secret Chiefs! First seen in companion publication “Secret Chiefs Zine: Vol. 1″, the series is set to feature a total of 3 Bikkuriman-inspired designs, the first coming in the form of the club wielding demon you see above. Coming in at around 2″ tall, the hand sculpted figure is due to come cast in a slew of classic keshi colors by our very own Tru:Tek soon. Interested in finding out more about the project? Debuting to huge success at myplasticheart back in April, the “Robo Top” resin spinning top from Inami Toyland‘s Kevin Nam returns for a special summertime release! Coming in at around 2″ tall by 2″ wide, the fully working, hand sculpted spinning top features an ingenious “rock, paper, scissors” style mechanic, with each of the robot’s hands (clenched, 2 fingers up and 3 fingers up) representing the game’s 3 choices. Produced by Kevin in 2 different colorways for this release, an unpainted “Lemon” and “Lime”, both have been limited to an edition of just 10 pieces. Coming poly-bagged with an admission ticket-style header card, the latest round of Robo Tops will be the first figures to feature in the new Inami Toyland store, touching down on Thursday, July 23rd at 9pm Eastern time for just $15 each plus shipping. Having had continued success with their “Karnov” keshi last year, Newtervision are proud to reveal that they’ve secured yet another one-day license for Wonderfestival Summer ’15, taking on Sunsoft’s cult scrolling action game “Ikki” (Riot)! Based on lead protagonist “Gonbi”, the little guy has been faithfully recreated in the classic keshi style, standing at around 2.5″ tall and coming complete with his signature bambo kendo stick and emakimono (Japanese scroll). Debuting at the Paralyzing Toyz WF booth (5-28-02) next Sunday, July 26th in the standard flesh-tone colorway, Gonbi is likely to set you back around 3,000yen ($24)…


MAN-E-NEWS// Unbox Industries’ “Bad Brain” Gummi mini figure revealed…

Joining the previously teased “Evil Hand”, Unbox Industries are proud to reveal that their ever popular “Bad Brain” figure is also set for a “Gummi” release soon! Originally seeing the light of day as a fully-fledged vinyl figure in October last year, the Nickelodeon-esque design has been 3D sculpted and then reduced by Unbox’s digital team, coming in at a considerably smaller sub 1″ tall. Due to be produced alongside the Evil Hand in Unbox’s signature “Gummi” rubber soon, expect a debut release for both figures around Halloween time…


MAN-E-NEWS// The Wonderfestival exclusive “Gamuratsuisuto” keshi from Yutani Shouten…

Up and coming keshi producer Yutani Shouten is proud to reveal that his debut mini figure – Gamuratsuisuto – will be making its first appearance at Wonderfestival Summer ’15 next weekend! Whilst we won’t pretend to know much about the figure, the limited research we’ve managed to do has informed us that the little guy is actually an officially licensed product from Japanese food company Kracie, leading us to assume that the design is based on one of their many food mascots. Standing at around 2.5″ tall and coming cast in the standard “flesh tone” soft resin (rubber), expect to see Gamuratsuisuto at Yutani’s WF booth on Sunday, July 26th for around 2,000-3,000yen ($16-$24). As a licensed product, we doubt the figure will be made available overseas, so to anyone interested, we suggest hitting up forwarding service M-World at m-world-service@dream.jp with any enquiries…

Japanese sculptor KtoKto is proud to reveal the third wave in his ongoing Kaibutsu (Monster) series! Originally assumed by us to be the next figures in Newtervision’s Derformate series – largely due to their striking similarity in style – the latest set features just 2 characters this time around, Frankenstein and Dracula, that come with a matching tombstone accessory. Pictures here in vinyl test shot form, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the little guys see their first painted release at Wonderfestival Summer ’15 next weekend… Look out for the full lowdown soon!

Joe Whiteford has teamed up with Zectron for a special “Major League” run of the Madball of Death keshi! Designed and sculpted by Zectron and cast by our very own Tru:Tek, the ingenious 3-part figures have been treated to a number of jaw-dropping one-off paint apps courtesy of Joe, each coming packed in a custom baseball with a deluxe oversized header, also by Joe. Limited to an edition of just 7 pieces, the “Major League” Madballs of Death will be touching down in the Joe Whiteford store this Friday, July 17th for just $85 shipped in the U.S… Can’t wait until then?! MAN-E-NEWS// The “Nuke Beach” resin mini figures from Slime Time…

Artist Louie Chavez aka Slime Time is proud to present his debut mini figure series, Nuke Beach! Drawing inspiration from classic gross-out toys of the 80’s and 90’s, as well cult cartoons such as the Toxic Crusaders, the line-up is set to feature a number of surfers that are said to have been mutated by a nuclear tsunami during a Fukushima surf competition- the first 2 coming in the form of Chum Bucket and Fukushiman. Designed, sculpted and cast in resin by Chavez, the pair both stand at around 3″ tall, coming meticulously hand painted in UV reactive paints and packed with a mutated surf board, can of glow goop and a character nuclear stat sheet. Limited to just 6 of each, both Chum Bucket and Fukishiman can be found in the Nuke Beach store right here for $65 each…

Unbox Industries have just unveiled the latest figure to join their extensive range of “Gummi” mini figures, proudly presenting the Evil Hand! A loving homage to the silver screens’ many “severed hand” horror flicks – Evil Dead 2, the Addams Family and Idle Hands to name but a few – the little guy has been beautifully sculpted by Unbox’s digital team, coming in at around 3.5cm tall. Due to be produced in the signature Unbox “Gummi” rubber soon, expect a debut for the Evil Hand some time around Halloween…

Taking a break from the madness that is SDCC this year, legendary artist Skinner will instead be holding a huge online this week for his ever growing legion of fans! Set to feature a number of new prints and t-shirts, the “I’m not going to comic con” sale will also include not one, but two new(ish!) toy releases. First up, we have the debut of “Abominox the forgotten one”. A mash-up of Skinner’s head from MVH collaboration Krawlus with the body from Morgogg/Ogos, the lumbering 12.5″ tall figure has been produced in an unpainted blue soft vinyl this time around.

Limited to just 20 pieces, each coming with an oversized custom header, Abominox will set you back just $150 plus shipping… Next, we have the return of Skinner’s Lurker mini figures. Originally debuting in blank form a few weeks back, the second wave of “Dissolution of Smoke” sofubi from Algangu has finally seen its first painted release! Featuring a total of 3 all-new designs inspired by traditional yokai and 1970’s candy shop playing cards, the figures – a gourd holding monk, a castle and a cycloptic hat – stand a little shorter than the first release at around 2.5″-3″ each, coming complete with a finger puppet-style open base design. Produced in the same “red bean” colored soft vinyl as their first outing, the trio have been adorned with simple silver and yellow sprays with black brushed detailing.
