The end of another month means yet another gigantic batch of releases from Medicom Toy, and whilst we won’t be able to run through them all today, we thought we’d kick things off with not 1, not 2, but 3 jaw-dropping exclusives from Paul Kaiju and Toy Art Gallery! Here’s a quick rundown of the trio currently up for grabs…

“Golden Treasure” Slugbeard- Kaiju’s incredible 10″ tall monstrosity sees it’s second ever painted edition and the first to be released outside of TAG. Cast in what appears to be a brown vinyl with a plethora of gold and metallic sprays, Slugbeard comes complete with matching spike ball accessory and chain. Available via open preorder until August 31st priced at 20,000yen ($212.89 worldwide), Japanese customers can find the figure in the Medicom Toy store, whilst overseas orders are going to need to be placed through Rakuten here.

“Thirst Quench” Gacha Mini Set- Marking the very first painted run of Kaiju’s adorable gacha-style minis, the sub 3″ figures have been produced in a green vinyl with a host of intricate metallic sprays and hand painted detailing. Once again available via open preorder until August 31st, Japanese customers can snag them here for 10,000yen, whilst anyone overseas is going to need to head over to Rakuten and cough up the slightly higher price of $106.44.

“Blueberry Ice” Vertebrata- Kaiju and BLObPUS‘ collaborative figure returns for what has got to be one of her most stunning colourways yet, the rather aptly titled Blueberry Ice! Cast in a mesmerising pearlescent vinyl, the 8″ figure has been treated to a mix of black, blue and gold sprays in BLObPUS’ instantly recognisable style. Available via open preorder until August 31st, Japanese customers can find her here for 15,000yen and overseas here for $159.67.

With SDCC goers having to wait until later in the week to bag their Mishka exclusives (what a drag!!!), co-owner Greg Rivera has decided to have a little pre-con fun with an online micro-run release of blank Cyco Apes! Cast in a glow-in-the-dark soft vinyl, the lumbering 13″ tall beast has been limited to just 5, coming in at $150 each plus shipping. Touching down in the toy/kaiju section of the Mishka store at 12 Noon EST today (07/22), be sure to set your alarm if you’re looking to pick one up as they most certainly won’t be around for long!

With Wondefestival just around the corner, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys is proud to reveal that his take on Ultraman’s Jamira will be making it’s debut at the event in an “Original Bullmark” colourway! Officially licensed by Tsuburaya, the iconic “beast with no neck” has been hand sculpted by Jon, standing at around 5″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation. Produced by Marmit (TBC) in an authentic vintage yellow soft vinyl with light blue/silver sprays that match the first ever Bullmark Jamira release, the figure will be making a strictly limited appearance at the “Paralyzing Toys” Wonderfestival booth this Sunday, July 27th for around 4,000yen ($40) a piece…

Multum In Parvo- In honour of Lulu Amy‘s extensive work with Arizona Pug Rescue (and her huge obsession with the breed!), Luke Rook aka Grody Shogun has realised the adorable crinkle faced canines in sofubi! Rather aptly translating to “a lot in a little package”, Multum In Parvo will be up for grabs in a number of different one-off colourways including painted, unpainted, mixed parts and marbled- each coming in at $35-$50 with $5 from every sale going directly to APARN to support their ongoing rescue and rehabbilitation efforts.

Various Grody Shogun mash-ups- Back with one of the hugest line-ups of paint splattered, marbled freaks that SDCC has ever had the honour of witnessing, Preview Night is set to play host to (from top left), the Grody Marbled Ensorcelled Men ($65), Grody Niks ($20), the Big Bad Rat micro-run ($65), Grody Zapatalocos ($55), new figure the North American Grody Grouse ($10), the one-off 3 foot tall Big Ass Grody Baby ($350) and the uber limited Real Head x Grody Deep Space Monster ($55), featuring a standard red version and a one-off white chase.

Bella Muerta micro-run- At 10am, Lulubell will be putting out 5 of the amazing “Bella Muerta” figures, a beautiful collaboration between Grody Shogun x Evil Dave. Each one is airbrushed and then masterfully handpainted by Evil Dave, with no 2 alike. Standing at around 9″ tall, these have been priced at $100 each.

Neo Japan debut release- Joining the Wonderfestival release on the Sunday, Lulubell Toys have secured a batch of RESTORE‘s NEO JAPAN for SDCC! Standing at 7.5″ tall and coming complete with honcho knife accessory, the first 5 have been allotted for a release at 10am on Thursday, with another 10 up for grabs on Friday and 5 again on Saturday. Priced at $95 each, these are limited to just 1 per customer. Not able to attend the con this year? Then fret not! A further batch of 10 will be heading to the Lulubell online store on August 1st.

“Grayve” Shub Zeroth- Metacrypt‘s Shub Zeroth is back from the dead in an exclusive “Grayve” version for SDCC 2014! From the creative genius of Brian Ewing x Hateball, Lulubell are offering con-goers a chance meet the guys and snag one of these ghostly ghouls for $120 at the booth between 1pm-2pm. A super-limited batch of grey blanks will also be up for grabs at $100 each, so be sure to get there early to avoid disappointment!

Blurble and Dski One- Calling upon the talents of 2 of Arizona’s finest, Blurble and Dski One will be on hand between 4pm-5pm with a huge selection of resin, soft vinyl and rubber figures on offer! SDCC Young Gohsts- Ferg has teamed up with Grody Shogun for a whole slew of Young Gohst micro-runs and marbled editions, including (from top) the Fire Crotch edition ($50), the Youg Gohst Faced Killahs painted by Dski One ($50), the Grody Marbles ($55) and the Shi Shi Odor edition ($50). Touching down at the booth at 11am, Ferg will also be on hand for signing.

Zine Wolf- Co-creator of Shub Zeroth, Hateball, has teamed up with Lulubell Toys for the release of his debut solo soft vinyl figure, Zine Wolf! Shrouded in mystery at the moment (aside from the image we managed to find above), we suggest keeping a close eye on the new Hateball site here for more developments as we get closer to the event. Dropping alongside a whole host of other new merc from the artist including limited edition zines, patches and essays, the Zine Wolf release/signing will be taking place at the booth from 1pm-2pm.

Miscreation Toys lottery- MT’s Autopsy Zombie Staple Baby is set to receive 2 micro-run releases, a “Peek-a-boo” GID version swirled in clears, opaques and glitters ($125) and an “Obake” edition, coming hand painted by Jeremi Rimel in a run of 4 ($175)! Both up for grabs via lottery, tickets will be handed out from the booth at 3pm with a draw to be held at 3.15pm. On top of the AZSB’s, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the previously teased Gergle Autopsy Baby will be making it’s debut at some point too- stay tuned for more info closer to the event!

Expect the full lowdown for Saturday’s releases, including figures from both Mishka and Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, later in the week…

PopSoda have teamed up with none other than RESTORE for the release of their latest mid-sized sofubi, the breathtaking Jungle Fever! Designed by PopSoda and sculpted by RESTORE’s Abe Junnokai, the beautifully realised chameleon stands upright at just under 8″, coming complete with 10 separate parts and 7 points of articulation. Pictured here as an unpainted tan test cast, the soft vinyl figure is set to make it’s debut in an as-yet-unrevealed painted colourway at the Paralyzing Toys Wondefestival booth this coming Sunday, July 27th. Priced at just 7,000yen ($69) a piece, edition size on these is still to be confirmed…

With SDCC opening it’s doors in just a few days time, Greg Rivera over at Mishka has started to unveil the various exclusives they’ll have on offer at the event, starting with the pictured D-Lux Cyco Ape run! Designed by Lamour Supreme and sculpted by Atomic Vomit, the 13″ tall beast has been cast in a GID blue vinyl this time around, coming in D-Lux’s signature black rub overlaid with retina melting neon sprays. Touching down at Frank Kozik‘s SDCC booth at 11.11am on Friday, July 25th, pricing and edition size are still to be confirmed…

But that’s not all… Joining the D-Lux Apes we have the reveal of an all-new figure, the Keep Watch children’s toy! A collaboration of epic proportions, these soft vinyl figures feature the Lamour Supreme designed Keep Watch Bootleg heads with Koningu-style bodies sculpted by Ummiko. Produced by Grody Shogun aka Luke Rook in a predominantly white swirled soft vinyl, these guys will be available from the Lulubell Toys SDCC booth on Saturday July 26th at 11am… Stay tuned for more reveals closer to the event!

Monster Worship are pulling out all the stops for SDCC 14, proudly presenting yet another staggering line-up of exclusives for this year’s event! Due to be touching down at the Lulubell Toys booth (#5047) between 4pm-6pm, with early tickets available at 3.30pm, we bring you a quick rundown of the whole host of goodies that’ll be up for grabs…

“UnMellow Yellow” Cannibal Fuckface- Standing at approx. 7.5″ tall with 4 points of articulation, the Johnny Ryan designed and Monster 5 sculpted figure has been produced in an unpainted yellow soft vinyl this time around. Coming complete with slorge accessory, CF will be available in “too rare” quantities, priced at $75 a piece.

Mass Murder (pictured top)- The latest figure to come from Johnny Ryan’s Prison Pit wasteland, this Monster 5 sculpted piece stands at approx. 8″ tall with seven points of articulation. Produced in an unpainted silver glitter-flake (lamé) for it’s debut, Mass Murder will be available for $85 a piece. Edition size TBC.

Micro Greasebat- Jeff Lamm’s sofubi micros return for SDCC in both unpainted glow and slime green soft vinyl! Sculpted once again by Monster5, these little guys stand at just 1.5″ tall, coming in at $15 each.

“UnMellow Yellow” Rottweiler Herpes- Joining CF, Johnny Ryan’s Rottweiler Herpes is also set to receive a super-limited run in unpainted yellow vinyl. Standing at approx. 8″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation, the figures will be available for $75 each.

“Slime Thing” Slimebat- A tribute to everybody’s favourite Bio-Glow plant-like entity toy from Kenner in the early 90′s, Slime Thing Slimebat from Michael Skattum and Monster Worship has been cast in bio-glow vinyl with green, gold, and red spray paint accents. Standing at approx. 5.5″ tall and coming with 1 point of articulation, the figure has been priced at $50.

“Steel City” Galaxy People- Monster Worship will be teaming up with their friends in Japan, Galaxy People, to offer a three piece set featuring the heroes of the GP universe; Helios, The Grappler and Meklops. Cast in yellow japanese soft vinyl, with black and silver paint accents, MW’s signature colorway, the figures have been priced at $25 and $75 for the set.

After seeing numerous releases over the past 3 years, BLObPUS‘ “Enma” Ollie head is set to become the first figure from Mutant Vinyl Hardcore to head into permanent retirement. Seeing the monumental 13″ figure out with a bang, BLObPUS has readied 2 final versions, entitled “Beast” and “Final King”, which are currently up for grabs via lottery through his blog right here. Both coming cast in a yellow soft vinyl, the Beast Enma has been treated to a mix of Tokyo-style red and green sprays with brown highlights, whilst the Final King comes in a psychedelic “heat vision” mix of greens, blues, oranges and black. Priced at 16,800yen each, entry for the pair will be open for the next couple of days, so be sure to head on over asap if you’re interested in picking them up…

But that’s not all! Joining the Enma Ollies, BLObPUS is also holding a lottery for a Gori Sludgie Demon run too! A mash-up of the artist’s own GoriGori ape and MVH’s Sludge Demon body, the figure appears to have been cast in a pearlescent silver vinyl, complete with multi-coloured metallic sprays. Having proved to be a huge hit at the recent “Stepping Through Walls” group show, Johan Ulrich over at DeathCat Toys has revealed that he will once again be teaming up with Toy Art Gallery for a new series of Devilman inspired sofubi! Designed by Ulrich and sculpted by Grizlli Atom of Gnosis Toys, the initial line-up (pictured above) is set to feature a total of 3 6″-7″ figures alongside 6 minis. Due for release exclusively through TAG in the next few months, be sure to stay tuned for all the latest developments as soon as we have word!

Having teased the final sculpt here last month, RESTORE are proud to reveal the first painted edition of their latest sofubi, NEO JAPAN SFB, in full! Originally released as a resin garage-kit a few years back, RESTORE have since redesigned and re-sculpted the incredible design as a fully articulated, 7.5″ tall vinyl figure with hand cast resin embelishments. Due to be making it’s first appearance at Wonderfestival on July 27th in the gorgeous mix of white, black, flesh, red and gold you see above, the kitchen knife(?!) wielding warrior will be up for grabs at the event for just 8,640yen ($84), with a full release planned for August 1st. Originally previewed here as an unpainted test shot back in early May, Japanese retro apparel and lifestyle brand Geek Life‘s debut sofubi “Aggar” is finally up for preorder! The first figure to be released in the officially licensed Sega Retrogame Sofubi Collection, cult beat ‘em up Altered Beast’s gruesome first stage boss has been sculpted by Masami Yamada, standing at a towering 9.5″ tall. Coming cast in what appears to be a flesh soft vinyl with layered brown and cream sprays, the fully articulated figure comes complete with a separate interchangeable head, plus flaming projectile omake. Available to Japanese customers through the Geek Life store, overseas orders can be placed through BlackBook Toy right here for just 11,800yen ($116) plus shipping. Tim Stephson over at Ultimate Skull & Cobra is the latest artist to let loose on Awesome Toys‘ FAKE BARON, revealing a paint app inspired by another iconic super-robot, Mazinger-Z! Cast in a blue soft vinyl, the 9″ figure has been treated to a faithful palette of black, silver, metallic blue, red and gold V-Color sprays. We’re still unsure as to whether the figure will remain a one-off, or feature as part of Awesome Toys’ ongoing Artist Series, but you can be sure as soon as we find out, you guys will be the first to know…


MAN-E-NEWS// Paul Kaiju’s “A Fistful of Dominoes” SDCC event announced…

Paul Kaiju has just revealed details for this year’s off-site SDCC exclusive event, A Fistful of Dominoes! Hosted by Gunnzo in Old Town San Diego, the show is set to feature a whole slew of figure releases from the artist, including SDCC exclusive editions, character debuts (the pictured Domino Jack being one!) and a number of mystery surprises. Opening its doors on Friday, July 25th after the main convention floor closes, raffle tickets for all items will be distributed at 6pm, with a random drawing planned for 7.30pm. Featuring a tight selection of both vinyl and ReAction figures, we bring you a quick rundown of what will be on offer at their booth (#4945), starting with the breathtaking array of sofubi…

Chanmen x S7 Oozebat “Tribute”- Paying homage to the classic Ooze-It toy that inspired the figure’s design, the Oozebat has been cast in a deep green, coming with black and yellow sprays to resemble the original’s plug attachments. These have been priced at $50 each.

“Cookies ‘n Cream” Foster- The adorable cookie returns for SDCC in a marbled brown and GID soft vinyl. Standing at around 3″ tall, the little guy will set you back just $25.

“Volcano Fire” Caveman Dinosaur- Josh Herbolsheimer’s latest creation, the Caveman Dino mini, has been cast in a bright red vinyl with black and gold sprays. Coming in at just a little taller than Foster at 3.5″ tall, you’ll be able to find the figure at the booth for just $35 a piece.

“Marbled Madness” Mongolion- Having made a reappearance in this year’s Super7 Lucky Bags, Lamour Supreme’s awesome figure appears to be seeing a renaissance of sorts at the moment, seeing yet another new incarnation for SDCC. Cast in a clear green and gold glitter vinyl, the Mongolion remains unpainted bar 2 bright red eyes. These will be up for grabs at $65 each.

“Bug Splatter” Crystal Mecha- Continuing the crazy marbled theme, the latest iteration of Brian Flynn’s 9″ kaiju has been cast in a swirled mix of silver, blue, black and gold, and finished with dark blue paint splatters. These have been priced at $95 each.

“Radioactive Puke” Fossilla- Herbolsheimer’s impressive beast is given the nuclear treatment for this release, coming cast in a swirled mix of yellow, blue, brown and orange vinyl with red and bone hand painted detailing. Coming in at around 9″ tall, Fossilla can be yours for $95.

“Adventure Set” Mummy Boy- Super7′s signature Mummy Boy makes a return for a very special SDCC release! Featuring all 3 previous head designs; the original Mummy, Pumpkin and Miska’s recent Keep Watch, the interchangeable set has been cast in a swirled trans pink and glitter vinyl with red paint accents, coming in at just $65 each.

“Burnt Offering” Hono- Lecifer’s adorable little flame guy has been treated to a rather singed looking colourway this time around, coming cast in what appears to be a marbled black and brown vinyl with gold sprays. Look out for him at the booth priced at just $35.

Alien “Deep Space” Mystery ReAction Figures- Joining the huge selection of vinyl, Super7 will also be teaming up with Funko for a whole slew of exclusive ReAction Figure releases, the first of which coming in the form of the Alien “Deep Space” mystery figures. Featuring realistic interpretations of the horrific eggs from the film that house either an all-new Alien figure or colourway, once opened, the container doubles as an action figure stand featuring a foot-peg to pose your ReAction Figure with ease. Limited to 4 per person, these have been priced at just $25 each.

The Alien Egg Chamber ReAction Playset- Inspired by the playsets of the 1970’s and packaged in an era appropriate photo box, this labour of love comes complete with classically styled action base made from durable hand-cast resin and corrugated cardboard, plus a full-colour Alien Egg Silo backdrop that slides into the base for display. Created exclusively for SDCC, these have been limited to just 250, coming in at $100 each.

The Gimp in a Box ReAction Figure- Super7 and Funko look towards one of their more recent license acquisitions for their last SDCC exclusive (for the moment at least!), taking on one of Pulp Fiction’s more obscure characters, the Gimp! Whilst photos of the figure are still forthcoming, we’ve been told he’ll be the standard 3.75” tall, coming in an ornately detailed outfit and packaged inside a wooden storage box. Available in either black or pink colourways, the beautiful cycloptic figure comes packed with a matching caped omake, with both being housed in one of Ilu Ilu’s ever-extravagant window boxes. Priced at just $150 each or $300 for the pair (including worldwide shipping), the Biratos will be touching down in the Angel Abby store this Sunday, July 6th at an undisclosed time…

Gorgoloid has just revealed 2 new releases that’ll be heading to his store this Wednesday, July 2nd at 6pm PST! First we have the return of the artist’s original Kaiju Koseki figure in a stunning “Crystal” colourway. Standing at around 6″ tall and weighing in at 220 grams of solid hand cast clear resin, the holographic foil embedded figure has been treated to a number of translucent Monster Kolor sprays and hand painted detailing. Available in limited quantities, the signed and numbered figures will set you back $120 each plus shipping… Next up, we have a micro-run of custom Micro Eyezons. Utilising a clear soft vinyl base, the 2.5″ minis have been filled with multi-coloured resin confetti and painted with similar translucent Monster Kolor sprays. Strictly limited, these little guys have been priced at just $32 each plus shipping…

Making its first appearance as a near-finished clay proto back in March, we can now reveal that Kenth Toy Works‘ collaboration with The SIX F, the jaw-dropping Naminori Kaijin “Oron”, is finally ready for it’s first release! Standing at a lofty 8″ (11″ with shark-board!), the undead surfer features one of the most interestingly detailed sculpts we’ve seen all year, coupling drift wood, coral and octopi textures to dazzling effect. Making it’s debut in the full colour, hand sprayed edition you see above, Oron will be up for grabs via e-mail lottery starting July 4th at midnight Japan time, coming in at just 12,000yen ($118) plus shipping. Interested parties are going to need to fire over their name, address, Paypal address and telephone number to ktw.order@gmail.com before the close on July 11th- good luck to all who enter!

Having teamed up earlier in the year for the monumental “Mutant Head Butt Attack” show, Rampage Toys‘ Jon Malmstedt has joined forces with Mutant Vinyl Hardcore once again for the release of the “Blood God” Ollie micro-run! Standing at around 13″ tall, the huge figure has been cast up in a milk chocolate brown soft vinyl this go around, coming with with red, metallic and black sprays, plus some thuggy, brassy bling courtesy of Jon. Limited to just 5 pieces, the Blood Gods will be up for grabs via 24 hour lottery throughout the whole of July 1st (worldwide), priced at just $200 shipped. Bob Conge aka Plaseebo kindly shares 2 of his custom creations for Max Toy Co‘s upcoming Tokyo Cat Fight show, Wereneko and the Neko Night Gamer! Utilising the Kaiju Coup “Warui Neko” soft vinyl platform, the pair of of one-off pieces both come with fitted custom glass eyes and internal, motion activated LED units- fitted in the head of the Night Gamer, and the inset fangs of the Wereneko. Making an appearance alongside a whole host of other cat-based customs at the show on 5th-6th July at the Design Fiesta Gallery in Harajuku, Tokyo, pricing on the duo is still to be confirmed…
