MAN-E-XCLUSIVE// The “Leucotomy Ball” from Leucotomy x The Disarticulators revealed…

Gabriel Mackenzie of UK apparel brand Leucotomy has teamed up with our very own Disarticulators for the release of his very own signature ball toy! Designed by Gabe and sculpted by the hugely talented Zectron, the 2″ ball – roughly the same scale as the previously released Oozeball – has been inspired by a Manga short story compilation (name forthcoming), blending a macabre, exposed flesh design along with elements from Cure’s Thorn Ball Boogieman to devastating effect. Currently undergoing rubber production courtesy of Tru:Tek, expect to see the first edition at the Rampage Toys x Tru:Tek NYCC booth (#402) next month, with an online release through the Leucotomy store soon after… Stay tuned for the full lowdown on the figure as we get a little closer to the event!

James Groman has just revealed a rather special little extra that’ll come packaged with the recently announced “Ultimate Color” Rotten Rexx preorder… a mystical “Idol” omake that is said to bring the undead beast to life! Standing at around 2.25″ and coming cast in soft vinyl, the little guy is likely to become a feature of all future Rotten Rexx releases, hopefully starting with NYCC in just a few weeks time… Keep track of the artist’s dedicated Instagram feed here for more news on the figure soon!

Elegab is proud to present the arrival of his latest kaiju creation, the stunning Hedornchaku! The artist’s latest take on the classic “Hedoro” (sludge) style monster, the impressive cycloptic sculpt stands at around 9″ tall, coming with articulation in the head, neck and tentacles. Debuting via the usual lottery system on the Elegab blog right here, 2 different colorways have been made available to start with – “Orange” and “Black” – both coming cast in a Japanese-produced soft vinyl and treated to Elegab’s signature metallic sprays for just 8,600yen ($79) a piece. Interested parties are going to need to head over to the site and follow the lottery entry instructions before close on Sunday, September 21st… Good luck to all who enter!

Hot off the heals of last week’s sellout debut release (here), Shigeo Endo over at Bukimi Blasters is proud to reveal that he’ll be unleashing a fresh batch of Evil Demon sofubi online this week! Standing at 5.5″ tall with 3 points of articulation, the highly sought after figure will be up for grabs unpainted this time around, coming cast in the same light green soft vinyl as the first release. Touching down in the Bukimi Blasters store this Friday, September 19th at 11pm EST, the limited batch of 13 blanks have been priced at just $90 each plus shipping, with a one-off set of 5 up for grabs at a reduced $400…

Never one to rest on his laurels, the mighty Paul Kaiju has already started to give us a glimpse into what we can expect in 2015… starting with this jaw-dropping “Powered” Boss Carrion teaser! Whilst the above pic is all we have to go on at present, it would appear that the figure will largely stay true to the original Boss design, albeit in a larger scale and with elements from both Mockbat and Slugbeard thrown in for good measure. One of many projects we’re sure the artist has underway for the new year, we’ll be keeping ear to the ground for more news on the figure soon…


MAN-E-NEWS// Geek Life x SEGA’s Space Harrier “Mammoth” sofubi revealed…

With the recently released Altered Beast “Aggar” figure proving to be a huge success, the guys behind retro apparel brand Geek Life have wasted no time in getting to work on the second figure in the officially licensed Sega Retro Game Sofbi Collection- taking on 1985 shooter Space Harrier’s “Mammoth” boss! A near-perfect rendition of the iconic cycloptic mammal in soft vinyl, the figure appears to be roughly the same scale as Aggar (around 9″ tall), coming with articulation in all 4 legs and both tusks. Release details on the figure are still to be confirmed at present, but with a successful test-shot in place, we’re guessing we should only have another month or 2 to wait…

Monkey 3000 over at Ummikko is proud to reveal that his debut sofubi “Koningu” will be returning soon for a round of one-off customs! Produced in what appears to be a black soft vinyl, the 5.5″ primate has been limited to just 5 pieces this time around, each coming with a selection of unique multi-hued sprays and hand painted detailing courtesy of Monkey. Going on sale through the Ummikko store at some point this weekend, be sure to keep track of the dedicated Instagram feed right here for the full lowdown on the drop later this week…

After almost a year since its debut at NYCC ’13, James Groman and Lulubell Toys‘ humungous Rotten Rexx sofubi is finally set to receive its first ever painted colorway! Entitled the “Ultimate Color Edition”, it would appear the paint scheme has been based on Groman’s own “Ultimate Rexx” custom seen at the Lulubell Toys DCon ’13 booth, with the towering 13″ tall monstrosity coming in a black soft vinyl with layer upon layer of green, red and bone colored sprays and hand brushed detailing. Up for preorder at Lulubell over a 3 week period starting this coming Monday, September 15th at Noon PST, the “Ultimate Color” Rexx can be yours for just $200 plus shipping…

Paul Kaiju has just revealed that Sally Joe’s arch nemesis, cyber agent “Domino Jack”, is set to receive his first official online release this weekend in a stunning “Robot Sentinel” colorway! Standing at a lofty 9″ tall and coming with 8 points of articulation, Jack has been produced in a black soft vinyl this time around, coming complete with Devilman-esque aquatic metallic sprays and hand painted detailing. Going on sale for just $130 a piece via the usual lottery system, anyone looking to bag the figure is going to need to fill out the dedicated raffle form that’ll be appearing on the artist’s site (click the “Raffle Open” tab on the front page) this Sunday, September 14th at Noon PST. Barry Allen aka Gorgoloid has taken on 2 of M1GO’s “Woo” and “Garamon” kaiju for his latest round of one-off customs! With Woo standing at around 9″ tall and Garamon 7″, the pair have both been produced in a flesh Japanese soft vinyl, coming complete with a number of neon metallic Monster Kolor sprays and hand brushed detailing from the artist. Priced at $120 for Woo and just $80 for Garamon, the pair can currently be found in the Gorgoloid store right here

Shigeo Endo of new Japanese toy company Bukimi Blasters is proud to announce details of his debut release, the Evil Demon sofubi! Standing at around 6″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation, the neo-kaiju beast has been produced in a light green soft vinyl for it’s initial outing, coming with a mix of vintage Tokyo-inspired green, yellow, red and black sprays. Packed with a severed head omake (not pictured), the OG Evil Demon will be touching down on the newly opened Bukimi Blasters store this Friday, September 12th at 11pm EST for $120 plus shipping. Supplies are said to be super-limited, so we suggest heading over early to avoid disappointment!

Bob Conge aka Plaseebo kindly shares his contribution for Toy Art Gallery‘s upcoming 5th Anniversary Show, the “Toxic Candy” Vertebrata! One of many artists taking on the TAG-produced, BLObPUS x Paul Kaiju figure, the 9″ piece has been produced in a crystal clear soft vinyl, coming with both internal and external sprays and hand painted detailing, an exposed body filled with “toxic candy, GID spiders and such”, plus 2 motion activated LED units that illuminate from within. Touching down at the gallery alongside a whole host of other custom Vertebrata figures this Saturday, September 13th, expect any leftover pieces to head to the online store soon after…

Having teased an NYCC exclusive Yusei Majin right here last week, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has just announced his line-up for the con in full! Teaming up with our very own Tru:Tek in a joint booth as part of the Tenacious Toys collective (booth #208), Jon will be offering up a number of OG Rampage toys, collaborative runs, figure debuts and one-off customs across all 4 days of the con. Ahead of a full reveal closer to the event, we bring you a quick rundown of exactly what’ll be on offer…

OG Rampage Toys:

  • Ugly Unicorn – New color – blank and painted – of the original Ugly Unicorn sofubi.

Directly inspired by the classic 1960’s tokusatsu series “Ultra Q”, the impressive 4.5″ tall “mollusk monster” has been hand sculpted and cast resin, with this initial run being limited to 5 one-off customs painted in a dazzling array of metallic Monster Kolor sprays. Following our teaser posted here a few weeks back, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has just unveiled new test shots for his upcoming collaboration with Skull Head Butt! Featuring 2 well known designs in the indie toy scene – Plaseebo‘s Gnaw and Triclops x The Disarticulators‘ Rotten Tomato – the pair have been reworked and produced by Jon to fit on SHB’s standard 8″ X body, with limited runs of both “Mutant Gnaw” and “Rotten X” due to make their first appearance at NYCC next month. The guys over at Lulubell Toys are very proud to present their latest original sofubi release, Françios le Grande! Sculpted by none other than Jetturre Handsome Taro, the hulking monstrosity stands at an impressive 15.75″ tall, lovingly produced by Lulubell in genuine soft vinyl over in Japan. Set to make it’s official debut at NYCC next month, the guys are currently offering up an advance made to order pre-order on the first prototype version at a discounted “early bird” price of just $130 (reg. price $150). Produced in an unpainted waxy green sofubi for the release, “Proto” Françios can be found right here until Wednesday, September 10th at Noon PST. Delivery has been slated for late October…

Originally teased here last month, Awesome Toys‘ FAKE BARON “2nd Edition” is now up for grabs! Standing at around 9″ tall and coming with 5 points of articulation, the officially licensed Red Baron pachi (bootleg) has been produced in the same bright red sofubi as before, this time around coming with a rather more vivid choice of blue and gold sprays inspired by the original vintage toys color scheme. Currently available in Japan via preorder on the Medicom Toy store for 9,000yen, overseas customers can bag theres through Rakuten right here for $92.60. Preorders will remain open until September 30th, with an estimated ship date of the end of December ’14…

Teaming up with our very own Tru:Tek and The Disarticulators for NYCC this year, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has just teased the first figure he’ll be bringing along to the joint booth next month… an all-new custom Yusei Majin! Whilst we’re still awaiting a full reveal, the figure – identified by it’s instantly recognisable alien claw and crater torso – appears to have been cast in a milky white sofubi this time around, coming with solid metallics mixed with subtle, light neon sprays that help highlight the vinyl’s slightly translucent look. To be joined by a whole host of other one-off customs, micro-runs and figure debuts at the booth, be sure to stay tuned for the full, exclusive lowdown as we get closer to the event…
