Bob Conge aka Placeebo kindly shares the first of 2 pieces he’ll have on display at FOE Gallery‘s upcoming Garamaniacal Too Show, the one-off custom Aquagaramon! Inspired by Garamon rather than being a straight up interpretation of the classic kaiju, Placeebo’s creation blends both vinyl and rubber with hand cast resin elements for this aquatic take on the beast. Hand sprayed in a mix of flat and metallic sprays, the 5 1/2″ long piece comes complete with inset eyes and a switched-controlled internal color-changing LED unit. Signed and dated by the artist, Aquagaramon will be up for grabs at the show’s opening this coming Friday, February 13th for $650… Stay tuned for Plaseebo’s second entry, the Garamon Tank, later this week!

Joining the swathe of one-off customs we’ve been posting over the past week for FOE’s upcoming “Creatures” show, Bob Conge aka Plaseebo comes with yet another incredible resin cast monstrosity, the DC Lobbyist! To be joined by a number of other pieces from Conge, plus works from BLObPUS, Yamomark, GUUMON and Hanawa, the DC Lobbyist will be up for grabs at the show’s opening next Friday, August 9th from 6pm onwards…
It is my opinion that the influence peddling lobbyists hired by special interest groups have hijacked our government. In fact America is no longer a democracy, it has become a daily auction of our principals and assets going to the highest bidder ! “We the people” are no longer represented by our congressmen and senators.
Profuse daily distractions of forever war in some foreign land, forest fires in the west, politicians caught with their pants down, the IRS cheating, periodic threats of the next pandemic that never quite seems to get here, on and on, keep our attention fractured and so oblivious to the theft right under our nose.
The lobbyists lurk just below the surface like greedy sharks overfeeding in a frenzy on the unsuspecting public as we swim in circles of illusion. If America is to return to a democracy, “we the people” must demand an end to this lobbyists system of unequal representation NOW !
It seems ironic that the solution is also part of the problem. Our most powerful tool for equal representation is the potential of the internet for mass communication and organization. Yet with all devices we carry with us so faithfully, we keep them focused on meaningless trivia.
We need to refocus on the bigger picture and rid Washington of these parasites…

Co-owner Jim Shea teams up with Michael Nordstrom of Garamania to curate GARAMANIACAL, an homage to the clunky, crusty, fish-lipped, oil-belching, high-rise-wrecking meteorite monster Garamon and his “recycled” alter ego, the friendly and excitable Pygmon. GARAMANIACAL will look at kaiju culture through the lens of these two iconic creatures, presenting information on the characters, the TV shows on which they first appeared, and the visionary artists who created them. As well, the gallery will be filled with an amazing assortment of contemporary art and toys inspired by Garamon and Pygmon
