MAN-E-NEWS// The Killer Bootlegs Artist Series: “Blackbook” Edition Art-Too…
Originally released to huge fan fare last month (find out more here), the awesome Art-Too figure from Killer Bootlegs and UK graffiti artist Hoakser has returned… this time sporting it’s very own Artist Series! Created to coincide with Black Friday this week, KB’s Peter Wheatstraw Goral enlisted the talents of some of the low-brow art scene’s finest, including graffiti writers, stencil/street artists, tattoo artists, and screen printers, each creating unique one-off backing cards for the vintage R2D2/fatcap resin mash-up. Taking inspiration from graffiti, hip-hop and of course, Star Wars, the 16 different designs were sprayed, painted, sketched and stenciled using standard KB cardbacks screen printed by Pirate Ninja. Due to touch down exclusively in the Tenacious Toys store this Friday (November 23rd), each one-of-a-kind piece will set you back $75 plus shipping…
The huge artist line-up is as follows… Cash Cannon, Corey Hagburg , Dan Moorman, Eddie Fajardo, Emmanuel L White Eagle, James Ford, Jarrod Hennis, John Santagada, Joseph Goral, Laurence Barr, Manny Tang, Michael Lara, Ryan Lape, and Nasty Neil of Wasted Talent.
Original package designer Hoakser has also created an additional 2 cardback designs, but due to international shipping issues these will be available at a later date…
MAN-E-UPDATE// The NIBBLERS from The Tarantulas x Fig-Lab…
Unfortunately it would appear that since pushing out the NIBBLERS “artist series” release to avoid SDCC, The Tarantulas and Fig-Lab have decided to forgo the drop until after NYCC as well (which promises to be HUGE this year), with a planned launch for sometime in November… With the line-up of artists confirmed (including a few “mouthwatering” late additions), expect to hear more on this highly anticipated project soon. MAN-E-NEWS// The NIBBLERS project from The Tarantulas x Fig-Lab…
After several weeks of teasers, The Tarantulas have finally been able to provide some solid information on their upcoming NIBBLERS project with Fig-Lab… During the last run of unpainted white Real x Nibblers earlier in the year, The Tarantulas held a few back to give to Fig-Lab’s Datadub, who has in turn passed them out to a select group of friends mainly but not exclusively in Japan. Resulting in a series of hand painted one-offs by a dream roster of artists (unfortunately names are being closely guarded, but our money is on the likes of Matt Doughty, Paul Kaiju and L’Amour Supreme…), these will be hopefully heading to the dedicated NIBBLERS store at the end of August. The Tarantulas has stated that all proceeds from the project will help establish a brand new charity organisation – the Tohoku Counseling Relief Fund – which will provide counseling, psychotherapy and group services to those in need among the evacuees from Fukushima and survivors in the 3 coastal prefectures hit by the tsunami in 2011…
MAN-E-NEWS// New “Nibbler” teasers from The Tarantulas…
Joining the teaser we posted a couple of weeks back (pictured bottom right), The Tarantulas has revealed another two images from their forthcoming Nibblers collaboration with Fig-Lab. Unfortunately, we still have no hard details on the project, but from what we can glean from the photo’s tags, this is likely to be some sort of “artist series”, either featuring a selection of one-off customs or limited runs… With a penciled drop date of sometime in July, expect more news on this intriguing release soon.

Recent revealed over at Tenacious Toys, both Sun-Min Kim’s Spider Boom and MCA’s Evil Ape will be receiving the mini-figure artist series treatment in the coming months courtesy of Toy2R. Featuring a staggering list of participants across the 2 series including Jon Paul Kaiser, Sneaky Racoon, Lunabee, Scott Tolesson, Jim Koch, Abe Lincoln, Sam Fout, and of course a few designs by Sun-Min Kim and MCA themselves, the blind-boxed figures will be up for pre-order from your local art toy retailer for around $8.99 a-piece soon…
