MAN-E-NEWS// The Street Fighter II sofubi from Dune x Capcom…

Originally unveiled in unpainted flesh vinyl at Wonderfestival back in July, the first batch of figures in the officially licensed Street Fighter II Sofubi Series are now finally up for grabs! Created for Japanese retro-lifestyle brand Dune, the first wave of figures consists of 3 different characters from the brawler’s original starting line-up – Ryu, Ken and Vega (M.Bison in the West) – each standing between 9.6″-10″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation. As with the original prototypes, these have once again been cast in a flesh colored soft vinyl, coming complete with authentic sprays in the game’s “Player 1″ colors. Priced at 8,424yen ($78) for Vega and just 7,992yen ($73) for the slightly smaller Ken and Ryu, the trio can be found in the Dune store right here for a limited time… Stay tuned for word on the next figure in the series – the mighty Zangief – very soon!

James Groman has just revealed a rather special little extra that’ll come packaged with the recently announced “Ultimate Color” Rotten Rexx preorder… a mystical “Idol” omake that is said to bring the undead beast to life! Elegab is proud to present the arrival of his latest kaiju creation, the stunning Hedornchaku! The artist’s latest take on the classic “Hedoro” (sludge) style monster, the impressive cycloptic sculpt stands at around 9″ tall, coming with articulation in the head, neck and tentacles. Debuting via the usual lottery system on the Elegab blog right here, 2 different colorways have been made available to start with – “Orange” and “Black” – both coming cast in a Japanese-produced soft vinyl and treated to Elegab’s signature metallic sprays for just 8,600yen ($79) a piece. Interested parties are going to need to head over to the site and follow the lottery entry instructions before close on Sunday, September 21st… Good luck to all who enter!

Standing at 5.5″ tall with 3 points of articulation, the highly sought after figure will be up for grabs unpainted this time around, coming cast in the same light green soft vinyl as the first release. Touching down in the Bukimi Blasters store this Friday, September 19th at 11pm EST, the limited batch of 13 blanks have been priced at just $90 each plus shipping, with a one-off set of 5 up for grabs at a reduced $400…

Bad Teeth Comics are proud to reveal that their Mini Cheestroyer sofubi has just received an all-new painted run, the “Killer Ketchup” edition! Standing at around 4.7″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation, the Unbox Industries produced figure has been cast in a flesh colored soft vinyl this time around (with one GID chase!), coming complete with a number of Monster Kolor sprays and hand brushed detailing. Japanese illustrator Makoto Hidaka has teamed up with Rampage Toys for the release of his first ever sofubi, the adorable Bunnybear Fighter! Based on a character created by the artist, the 2″ soft vinyl micro has been sculpted and produced by Rampage’s Jon Malmstedt in what appears to be in an open-bottom finger puppet style. Making a simultaneous debut at the 2014 Taipei Toy Festival in unpainted flesh (pictured) and New York Comic Con in green, expect details on pricing and edition size over the next couple of weeks…

Never one to rest on his laurels, the mighty Paul Kaiju has already started to give us a glimpse into what we can expect in 2015… starting with this jaw-dropping “Powered” Boss Carrion teaser! Whilst the above pic is all we have to go on at present, it would appear that the figure will largely stay true to the original Boss design, albeit in a larger scale and with elements from both Mockbat and Slugbeard thrown in for good measure. One of many projects we’re sure the artist has underway for the new year, we’ll be keeping ear to the ground for more news on the figure soon…


MAN-E-NEWS// Splurrt’s life-size Cadaver Twin for TAG’s Halloween show…

Splurrt has just revealed that his Cadaver Twin sofubi will be the latest figure to get the life-size treatment courtesy of Toy Art Gallery! Created for the upcoming Halloween show at the gallery space, the hideous creation is currently being fabricated in fibre glass, standing at a lofty 30″ tall- 5 times the original’s size. Likely to go on sale at the shows opening on October 18th for upwards of $1500, expect a full reveal plus release details closer to the event…

Frank Kozik has just revealed that the latest Heathrow sofubi, the “Swamp” edition, will be touching down in his store today (9/17) at Noon PST! Standing at around 6″ of green soft vinyl, the figure has been treated to a mix of black/white sprays and hand painted detailing. Presumably limited to 30 signed and numbered figures, expect “Swamp” Heathrow to come packed with a custom header for around $75 plus shipping… But that’s not all! Joining Heathrow, Frank will also be unleashing a limited supply of his recent STGCC exclusives – a “Mint” Hateball set for $65 and the black/GID Mr Blackwater for $85 – so be sure to head on over to the store early and limber up that F5 finger to avoid disappointment!

MAN-E-NEWS// Geek Life x SEGA’s Space Harrier “Mammoth” sofubi revealed…

With the recently released Altered Beast “Aggar” figure proving to be a huge success, the guys behind retro apparel brand Geek Life have wasted no time in getting to work on the second figure in the officially licensed Sega Retro Game Sofbi Collection- taking on 1985 shooter Space Harrier’s “Mammoth” boss! A near-perfect rendition of the iconic cycloptic mammal in soft vinyl, the figure appears to be roughly the same scale as Aggar (around 9″ tall), coming with articulation in all 4 legs and both tusks. Release details on the figure are still to be confirmed at present, but with a successful test-shot in place, we’re guessing we should only have another month or 2 to wait…

Monkey 3000 over at Ummikko is proud to reveal that his debut sofubi “Koningu” will be returning soon for a round of one-off customs! Produced in what appears to be a black soft vinyl, the 5.5″ primate has been limited to just 5 pieces this time around, each coming with a selection of unique multi-hued sprays and hand painted detailing courtesy of Monkey. Going on sale through the Ummikko store at some point this weekend, be sure to keep track of the dedicated Instagram feed right here for the full lowdown on the drop later this week…

Having announced their debut sofubi “Rimey” back in July, the guys behind G.R.U.P Design Works have just revealed a number of customs ahead of the figures release next month! Sculpted by none other than Kenth Toy Works, the adorable 3.5″ mummy has been taken on by some of Japan’s leading toy artists, including Touma, Uky Daydreamer, Baron Ueda and Kenth himself. Uamou‘s latest figure, Bastard, has just received its first coloured vinyl release in a beautiful Rose pink! Dropping alongside a matching “Rose” Fortune Uamou, the pair are currently available in both the Uamou Atelier shop and online, with the 2.75″ tall Bastard available either blank for 1,800yen ($17) or with a painted mouth for 2,000yen ($19) and the Fortune for just 1,000yen ($9). Both available in strictly limited quantities, be sure to check them out right here before they’re gone for good!

After almost a year since its debut at NYCC ’13, James Groman and Lulubell Toys‘ humungous Rotten Rexx sofubi is finally set to receive its first ever painted colorway! Entitled the “Ultimate Color Edition”, it would appear the paint scheme has been based on Groman’s own “Ultimate Rexx” custom seen at the Lulubell Toys DCon ’13 booth, with the towering 13″ tall monstrosity coming in a black soft vinyl with layer upon layer of green, red and bone colored sprays and hand brushed detailing. Up for preorder at Lulubell over a 3 week period starting this coming Monday, September 15th at Noon PST, the “Ultimate Color” Rexx can be yours for just $200 plus shipping…

Originally teased here a few weeks back, DeathCat Toys x Nerdone‘s NYCC exclusive “Nekos in My Pocket” playset has finally been revealed in full! As hinted at in our original post, this new version is set to follow the same template as the original release, coming complete with Nerdone’s M.O.T.U.L.O.S castle cast in a GID sofubi and hand sprayed by Ulrich, as well as 2 DeathCat keshi cast in a marbled black light reactive rubber courtesy of Dubose Art. Limited to a run of 20 this time around, the GID “Nekos in My Pocket” playsets will be up for grabs at the Monster Island x GNOSIS NYCC booth (#402) next month for an estimated $80 each…

Barry Allen aka Gorgoloid has taken on 2 of M1GO’s “Woo” and “Garamon” kaiju for his latest round of one-off customs! With Woo standing at around 9″ tall and Garamon 7″, the pair have both been produced in a flesh Japanese soft vinyl, coming complete with a number of neon metallic Monster Kolor sprays and hand brushed detailing from the artist. Priced at $120 for Woo and just $80 for Garamon, the pair can currently be found in the Gorgoloid store right here

Standing at around 6″ tall and coming with 3 points of articulation, the neo-kaiju beast has been produced in a light green soft vinyl for it’s initial outing, coming with a mix of vintage Tokyo-inspired green, yellow, red and black sprays. Packed with a severed head omake (not pictured), the OG Evil Demon will be touching down on the newly opened Bukimi Blasters store this Friday, September 12th at 11pm EST for $120 plus shipping. Supplies are said to be super-limited, so we suggest heading over early to avoid disappointment!

Yep, yet more news from Rampage Toys this week, as owner Jon Malmstedt reveals yet another brand new figure that’ll be debuting at both Superfestival 66 and NYCC in just a few weeks time… the Rampage Kaibutsuya “Kesagake” sofubi! The first release in the ongoing “Giant Monster Animal Shop” series (previously announced here), the menacing 10.5″ grizzly was inspired by the Sankebetsu Brown Bear Incident in Hokkaido Higuma- widely known as the worst bear attack in Japanese history. Pictured here as an initial black vinyl test shot – along with settler omake! -expect the first painted run to be revealed over the next couple of weeks…
