Having recently debuted their new Marvel line with Spiderman, Medicom Toy have returned to DC Comics this month for the fourth instalment of the ever popular Retro Sofubi Collection, taking on 2 of our favourite Batman foes- the Riddler and Harley Quinn! Once again sculpted by Bear Model in the classic vintage sofubi style, the soft vinyl figures stand at just shy of 10″, featuring a total of 5 points of articulation each. Currently available via preorder in Japan through the Medicom Toy store, overseas customers can find both figures on Rakuten right here for just $83.06 each plus shipping. Up for grabs until September 30th, shipping has been estimated for December ’14…

With STGCC ’14 in just a couple of weeks time, super-sculptor Daniel Yu has started to reveal the line-up of new figures he’ll be unveiling at his booth- starting with the awesome Footmen minis! Riding on the recent TMNT resurgence, Daniel’s latest custom Playmobil figure takes direct inspiration from the 1989 cartoon’s Foot Soldier minions – more accurately the Playmate action figure interpretations – featuring the same instantly recognisable hooded ninja design, albeit with Daniel’s super-fine attention to form and texture. Due to be debuting at the con alongside another new character, “Metalhead”, stay tuned for the full lowdown on both figures soon…

Monster Kolor are proud to reveal that they’ve secured a preorder for Dream Rocket’s latest vinyl figure, Gandye! Taken from Dynamic Kikaku/Toei Animation’s classic Devilman anime, the three-eyed monster has been sculpted and hand painted by Dream Rocket’s Yajima-san, standing approximately 12″ tall with an impressive total of 11 different parts. Originally debuting at Wonderfestival last week in a One-Up exclusive colourway, this second version has been produced in a metallic soft vinyl complete with orange and yellow sprays. Having debuted at SDCC last week, Skinner is proud to reveal that the second figure in the ongoing “Mansons of the Universe” series, Eternia’s master of the black arts “CHORKO” will be touching down online later this week! Beautifully crafted by Healeymade utilising MOTU’s Orko alongside a modified version of Skinner’s Charlie Manson head sculpt, the 4″ tall figure has been cast in a sleek black resin complete with lime and orange hand painted detailing. Coming packed on an authentic MOTU style cardback, the black wizard will be available from the Critical Hit store this Friday, August 1st at Noon PST, coming in at $80 each plus shipping…

Originally teased here a couple of weeks back, we can now reveal Mirock Toy‘s officially licensed Wanpaku Ōji no Orochi Taiji sofubi in full! Featuring the classic Japanese animation’s lead protagonists, the Naughty Prince and Tiger, the beautifully sculpted, vintage styled figures have been cast in tan and yellow soft vinyl, coming with meticulous sprays from none other than Itokin Park. Going on sale at the Mirock Toy Wonderfestival booth (5-10-8) this Sunday, July 27th alongside limited restocks of both Jackie and Bikkemberg sets, pricing is likely to be around the 9,800yen ($97) mark…

But that’s not all! Joining the licensed releases, Mirock will also have a total of 3 releases in the highly sought after Dr Mirock series. Featuring mash-ups of the original series parts, new additions, plus a few borrowed from the recent Meka Chibira-Kun release, 2 sets will be on offer at 7,000yen ($69) each; Set 1 including a Mirock Attack, Tenno Ong and Tokotoko Mirock, and Set 2, a “Full Version” Mirock Rocket and Devil Busting Tank, as well as standalone mini, Dr Mirock Shock for 1,000yen ($10).

With the success of the recent DC Retro Sofubi Collection tucked firmly under their (utility) belts, Medicom Toy are proud to reveal that they’ve secured a license with Marvel for a similar ongoing series- kicking things off this month with everybody’s favourite neighbourhood spider, Spiderman! Sculpted by Bear Model, the vintage-style figure stands at a lofty 8.8″ tall, complete with articulation in the head, arms and legs. Authentically painted in Spidey’s iconic primary red and blue and housed in a window display box, preorders for Japanese customers can be found in the Medicom Toy store (20,000yen), whilst overseas orders can be placed through Rakuten right here for $84.92 plus shipping…

Richard Page over at UME Toys has just revealed his entry for the upcoming “Modified Wool” group show, proudly Raph in a Box! Taking on Chima Group’s adorable dino sofubi mini with ease, Rich’s TMNT inspired custom is brimming with tiny details, including a beautifully sculpted shell, cleverly redesigned belt/scarf, plus a hand cut, “grease” stained box complete with Raphael’s twin sai and a slice pizza! Touching down at London’s Ray Gun Comics this Saturday, July 26th between 4pm-7pm, Raph in a Box will be available alongside 29 other custom Wool figures from a selection of artist around the globe. Bartholio “OG Hand Paint” edition- Cast up in a hard resin, these have been painstakingly hand painted by Ash to match the colours of the original bendy toy release (albeit with bright yellow skin!), each coming with a unique metal-tinged slogan scrawled across the front of the tee. Coming bagged with a custom header from Ash inspired by the official backer art, these will be up for grabs at £25 a piece.

Bartholio “Naked Bart” and “Naked Beavis” jumbo keshi editions- Coming in a keshi-style rubber, these playable versions have been produced in yellow and flesh inspired by both Simpsons and Beavis & Butthead skin tones. Once again coming packed with a custom header from Ash, these have been priced at just £10 each.

Joining the previously posted CHORKO, Healeymade has just revealed the latest exclusive he’ll be bringing along to SDCC next week, the first hand painted edition of Quackula! Based on the original custom resin release, a loving tribute to both Count Duckula and Universal Monsters, the Naoya Ikeda-sculpted figure stands just shy of 7″ tall and comes with a total of 4 points of articulation. Produced in a black soft vinyl by none other than Gargamel, the figure has been treated to a minmal factory-style paint job, complete with orange, white and grey highlights. Likely to be dropping alongside CHORKO at Skinner’s SDCC booth (#5051), keep a close eye on the artist’s Instagram feed here for the full lowdown closer to the event…

Having proved to be a huge hit at the recent “Stepping Through Walls” group show, Johan Ulrich over at DeathCat Toys has revealed that he will once again be teaming up with Toy Art Gallery for a new series of Devilman inspired sofubi! Designed by Ulrich and sculpted by Grizlli Atom of Gnosis Toys, the initial line-up (pictured above) is set to feature a total of 3 6″-7″ figures alongside 6 minis. Due for release exclusively through TAG in the next few months, be sure to stay tuned for all the latest developments as soon as we have word!

Mirock Toy have secured the license to yet another classic Japanese animation, taking on Wanpaku Ōji no Orochi Taiji‘s Naughty Prince and Tiger in sofubi form! Pictured here as near-finished protos, the wonderfully sculpted figures are likely to be making a limited appearance at Wonderfestival on July 27th as part of the event’s strict one day licensing agreement. Johan Ulrich over at DeathCat Toys very kindly sheds a little more light on his upcoming collaboration with Nerdone, the “Nekos in My Pocket” playset! An ingenious mix of both keshi and sofubi, the super-fun set is due to feature 2 of Johan’s monochromatic rubber Death Cat minis housed in a fully painted MOTULOS castle from Nerdone- all coming packed with the beautiful header art created by Johan that you see above. With CHARLOR proving to be huge success at SDCC last year, Skinner has called upon the talents of Healeymade for the return of the “Mansons of the Universe” series, proudly presenting twisted wizard of the black arts, CHORKO! A hilarious mash-up of MOTU’s Orko and Skinner’s originally sculpted “Charlie” head, the 3.5″ tall figure marks a stark contrast to the psychedelic look of CHARLOR, instead coming decked out in Healey’s minimal palette of jet black with neon green highlights. Originally announced here early last month, 8-Bit Zombie‘s hotly tipped THRASHOR 2.0 has finally been revealed in full! Marking a huge upgrade over the original resin release, the hilarious mash-up of MOTU and skate punk has been digitally sculpted by Shinbone Creative, coming styled in the classic 5.5″ action figure scale. Produced in a green vinyl this time around, the fully articulated figure has been treated to a simple black, blue white and grey paint app. Packaged on an authentic MOTU-styled vac formed blister card complete with working skateboard accessory, THRASHOR 2.0 has been limited to an edition of 300 pieces, coming in at $75 each. Dropping as part of 8-Bit Zombie’s Summer 2014 line-up, expect the figure alongside a whole host of new t-shirt designs in-store next Friday, July 18th…

Tim Stephson over at Ultimate Skull & Cobra is the latest artist to let loose on Awesome Toys‘ FAKE BARON, revealing a paint app inspired by another iconic super-robot, Mazinger-Z! Cast in a blue soft vinyl, the 9″ figure has been treated to a faithful palette of black, silver, metallic blue, red and gold V-Color sprays. We’re still unsure as to whether the figure will remain a one-off, or feature as part of Awesome Toys’ ongoing Artist Series, but you can be sure as soon as we find out, you guys will be the first to know…

Dave Bondi is the latest artist to be announced in DKE Toys‘ exclusive SDCC line-up, bringing with him his latest resin creation, Astronocchio! A hilarious mash-up of Disney’s Pinocchio and Tezuka’s Astroboy, the originally sculpted figure stands at around 5″ tall, coming hand cast by the artist in a bright “retro” red resin with black hand gun accessory. Limited to an edition of just 25, each Astronocchio is packed on a blister card with vintage styled cut-out illustrations on the back. Priced at $65 a piece, the figures will be up for grabs at the DKE Toys SDCC booth (#5045) when the doors open on July 23rd…

Skinner has just revealed that he will be releasing a special “Dr Rockso” Bullet Belt micro-run this week! Inspired by Metalocalypse’s cocaine-loving rockstar clown of the same name, the 10″ tall, Unbox produced figure appears to be cast in a white vinyl this time around, coming hand painted by Skinner in the doctor’s unmistakable palette of neon pink, blue and green. Limited to just 5 pieces, each coming with a Bullet Belt print and custom header, Dr Rockso will be landing in the Critical Hit store this Friday, June 20th at Noon PST for an unbelievable $150 each- the same price as the standard, factory painted runs!

With the AshMadeThis exclusive “Madball of Death” proving to be a huge sucess at last year’s Cardiff Con, the legendary tattoo artist will once again be teaming up with Tru:Tek of Disarticulators off-shoot, the Disart ToyLabs, for an all-new collaboration this July! Whilst we can’t reveal too much about the project just yet, any fans of Ash’s hilarious Simpsons mash-ups will surely at least have a hint of what’s to come based on the teaser above… Stay tuned for a full reveal of the project as soon as we’ve been given the green light!


MAN-E-NEWS// The “Grizzle” Evil Head resin figure from Joe Whiteford…

Originally revealed back in April, Joe Whiteford is proud to reveal that the first figure in his ongoing “Evil Head” series, the abominable Grizzle, is now up for grabs! A crazy infusion of all things 80’s (and gross!), including Weird Balls, He-Man and cult horror, the gruesome 5.5″ tall beast has been originally sculpted by the artist (save for the Grizzlor parts), coming cast in resin and finished in the artist’s unmistakeable mix of earthy colours, layered washes and a ton of fake fur. Whilst the first round of one-offs and limited runs have already sold out since their release just yesterday, Joe has just loaded the “Original Variant” edition for all those that missed out. Limited to a run of 16 (of which only 12 will be made available), this version has been painted in a Greyskull/Mumm Ra inspired greyish-green, coming packed with 2 custom collector cards playing homage to both Weird Balls and MOTU. Priced at $69 each plus shipping, the OG Grizzle’s can be found in the artist’s store right here… The first in a series of 4-5 figures planned, stay tuned for news on the next addition soon!
