MAN-E-NEWS// The Disney Marx inspired “Blacklight Yellow” Astronocchio from David Bondi…

Bondi_Astronocchio_Yellow_004

“This is the story of Astronocchio  –  The real boy who wanted to be a robot… He sought the wisdom of Krishna, Buddha, and the God of Abraham. They told him to forsake all desire to see the truth. It was revealed: suffering and happiness, love and hate, compassion and cruelty, all manifesting at once in the great catostrophic being. He was no longer human. His finger pulled the trigger, but it was someone else. He had become the perfect killing machine…”

Pop artist David Bondi has just revealed that the latest version of his Astronocchio figure has just touched down in his online store! A hilarious mash-up of Disney’s Pinocchio and Tezuka’s Astroboy, the originally sculpted figure stands at around 5″ tall, coming hand cast by the artist in a bright “blacklight yellow resin inspired by the classic Disney Marx figures of the early 1970’s. Limited to an edition of just 25, each Astronocchio is packed on a resealable blister card that pays homage to classic Disney graphics and Japanese robot schematics. MAN-E-NEWS// The custom Utrom/Krang inspired “Oot Keshi” from Plastic Playhouse…

k1_zpsfdcbdaaa

Originally releasing in extremely limited numbers last year, Rick Dries aka PlasticPlayhouse’s awesome “Oot Keshi” figure has returned for one final outing! Based on the brain-like “Utrom” aliens in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – the most prolific of course being Krang – the originally sculpted figure features an aesthetic similar to Neca’s now cancelled TMNT series, opting for a minimal, stylised approach that’s also in-keeping with traditional keshi. Cast by none other than Eric Nilla in a one-off edition of 25, just 10 of the flesh-toned rubber mini figures remain, with PP currently offering them up either blank for $20, or painted (pictured) for just $25. Interested parties can hit the artist up directly at fugazi9676@gmail.com with any enquiries…

With SGTCC opening it’s doors tomorrow morning, master toy maker Daniel Yu has just revealed a whole slew of figures that he’ll have up for grabs at booth AA90! To all those lucky enough to be able to attend this weekend, here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll be able to pick up…

The Footmen “Neon Tribes”- Previously featured here last week, Daniel’s latest custom Playmobil figure takes direct inspiration from the 1989 TMNT cartoon’s Foot Soldier minions – more accurately the Playmate action figure interpretations – featuring the same instantly recognisable hooded ninja design, albeit with Daniel’s super-fine attention to form and texture. Produced in a flurry of mixed neon resin parts and coming with neo magnet articulation, these will be up for grabs as singles (price TBC), or as a 7 piece “Super Set”, coming with an extra “shadow” Footman and retro mutagen canister!

Metalhead “Blind Anarchy”- Daniel’s other all-new figure Metalhead will also be making it’s debut at the con in a special “Blind Anarchy” run. Produced in various resin finishes, including standard opaques, metallics and pearlescents, the unpainted, unarticulated figures are due to be sold randomly “blind bag” style (price TBC).

Mystery Mortis “version 2.00″- The hugely popular Mortis mini figure returns for 2 new runs at SGTCC, the first coming in the form of a follow-up to the “Mystery Mortis” release! As with Metalhead, these static, 3″ tall figures have been cast up in a variety of different resin finishes – including neons, glitters and marbles – selling randomly “blind bag” style (price TBC).

Mortis “Noir”- Joining the “Mystery” run, Daniel has prepared yet another amazing hand painted Mortis run, this time opting for a sleek film noir inspired palette of dark greys, blues and black. Likely to be limited to around 10 pieces, pricing, as with the other releases, is still to be confirmed…
