MAN-E-NEWS// The Dominant Species Part 5: Leather Back custom from Hoakser…

The first of 3 new additions to the Dominant Species series, Leather Back is the latest custom from UK based graffiti artist, Hoakser. Towering above Jack, Why Front, Polkadot and Unknown, Leather Back was originally an Incredible Hulk figure, that with hours of burning, sculpting, spraying, and brushing has become one of Hoakser’s strongest customs to date. Coming with his own dioramic plinth (replete with the remains of his last opponent!), Leather Back will be available alongside his 4 brothers on the Hoakser eBay store soon. Expect news on the remaining cast of the Dominant Species (the Medic and Three Fourths) to follow next week…

“This is Leatherback, wounded in battle, he had his arm pulled off, but don’t worry it will grow back…He used to be an Incredible Hulk figure who was  missing an arm already,he was given to me by a friend..After hours of work, he is now the biggest member of the crew with the most muscle..”- Hoakser

MAN-E-NEWS// Manotaur, Sofubi Dinosaurs, and KFHC Ugly Unicorns from Rampage Toys…

Swiftly following the wonder that was the ‘Sofubi Farm‘ last week, Jon over at Rampage Toys has revealed a number of projects that should hopefully be seeing the light of day soon. Ranging from customs, dinosaurs, and even a new exclusive Ugly Unicorn, we’ve decided to give you a quick run down of a few of our favourite pieces…

Featured in our interview with Jon a couple of weeks back (here), Rampage’s collaboration with Justin Hillgrove of Imps and Monsters has finally entered the production phase, with the gorgeous blue vinyl test pull pictured appearing on Jon’s Flickr this week. Making it’s debut at the Emerald City Comic-Con, (March 29th) in Seattle, white and black blanks of the figure are still available to pre-order on the Imps and Monsters site here for just $65 plus shipping. Expect full painted shots of the blue Rampage edition (which will also be appearing at the Con) to follow soon…

Jon has been teasing images of dinosaur sculpts for some time now, so it came with great pleasure this week to finally be treated to a little more information on the upcoming project. Coming in a series of 3, the Cyclops Dinosaurs are set to become Rampage’s latest foray into the world of original sofubi (soft vinyl), with the beautifully sculpted mini-figures hopefully dropping sometime later this year. Expect more news on this awesome project soon…

In a collaboration with kaiju/music/art collective, Kentucky Fried Hardcore (KFHC), Rampage Toys have produced a super limited run of the Ugly Unicorn which should be hitting the KFHC store soon. Coming in the same green/blue as Monster Workshop’s Kentucky Bluegrass Greasebat, the KFHC Ugly Unicorns are due to come bagged and headed, replete with their own UU mini-screen print created by Jon. Expect news of the release on the KFHC site soon…
